Meet Eugene Leow
I’m Eugene Leow, the lead SEO consultant and founder of Sovereign SEO. For over a decade, I’ve helped businesses — from Singapore startups to global multinationals — build organic search into a strategic growth channel.
My work spans enterprise SEO for companies with hundreds of thousands of URLs, programme-level strategy for nimble startups, and everything in between. Clients have included Skyscanner, SpaceX, Starlink, Lukoil, Thomson Medical, and a range of local Singapore growth businesses — spanning aerospace, energy, travel, healthcare, and emerging growth verticals.
This page gives you the context you need to decide whether engaging me makes sense for your business.
Background and Experience
My approach to SEO is rooted in a profound commitment to understanding each client’s unique market dynamics and goals. With over a decade of hands-on experience, I’ve built a career marked by notable achievements and transformative successes across the ever-evolving digital landscape.
I’ve worked across:
- Enterprise SEO programmes — sites with substantial complexity, multiple stakeholder teams, and legacy technical debt
- Startup SEO — building organic channels from zero, often with constrained resources and high growth expectations
- Nonprofit SEO — mission-driven content strategy with commercial rigour
- B2B software — product-led growth patterns, programmatic SEO, and bottom-funnel commercial intent
- E-commerce — category architecture, faceted navigation, and product feed optimisation at scale
- Medical and healthcare — with full awareness of EEAT requirements and Singapore advertising regulations
- International expansion — multi-market SEO across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas
My approach is holistic — combining granular analytical insight with creative strategy to not only meet but exceed client expectations. Whether the engagement calls for dominating local search results or elevating a company’s global online profile, I design tailored solutions calibrated to the specific challenge.
Entrepreneurial Background: Conquest Creatives
As a co-founder of Conquest Creatives, a B2B Design and Branding Agency heralded as an industry leader, I have firsthand experience building a business from the ground up.
My tenure at Conquest Creatives was a testament to entrepreneurial spirit and comprehensive understanding of business operations — managing operational cash flow, navigating business incorporation, building hosting and domain infrastructure, developing B2B vendor relationships, and running procurement processes.
This operational depth is why I can have substantive conversations with founders and CMOs about what SEO investment actually demands from the rest of the business. Strategic SEO doesn’t exist in isolation — it interacts with engineering capacity, content production infrastructure, marketing budget allocation, and organisational priorities. Having run a growing business myself, I understand these dynamics from the inside.
My strategic foresight and operational savvy have been instrumental in scaling businesses — demonstrating competence not just in SEO, but across the broader facets of business growth and development that SEO serves.
Selected Client Experience
I’ve had the privilege of working with organisations across a wide range of scales and industries:
- Skyscanner — international travel and flight search (see the Skyscanner case study)
- SpaceX — aerospace
- Starlink — satellite communications
- Lukoil — energy and oil
- Thomson Medical — Singapore private healthcare
- Singapore Expo — B2B copywriting (case study)
- Little Shepherds’ Schoolhouse — preschool, SEO-optimised website (case study)
- Additional engagements across Singapore growth startups, B2B services, medical practices, and international enterprises
The breadth is deliberate — patterns from enterprise engagements inform better decisions for smaller businesses, and constraints faced by startups sharpen strategic thinking that scales to enterprises.

Industry Recognition
My contributions to the SEO community have been recognised on prestigious platforms, including:
Guest speaker at Ahrefs’ first SEO Conference in 2023 — a testament to respected voice in the field, where I shared insights gleaned from years of hands-on experience and success. Ahrefs is one of the most authoritative names in the SEO industry, and being invited to speak at their inaugural conference reflected the quality of work I’ve been fortunate to contribute to.
Commitment to Continuous Learning
In the ever-evolving world of SEO, staying ahead means continually updating strategies and techniques. I’m committed to continuous professional development and actively participate in major SEO conferences and workshops globally — including industry events covering AI search, technical SEO innovations, international expansion strategy, and emerging ranking factors.
This commitment is particularly important now. The SEO landscape is changing faster than at any point in the past decade:
- AI Overviews on Google appear on a growing share of queries, shifting visibility patterns fundamentally
- Standalone answer engines (Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, Claude) absorb queries that previously went to traditional search
- Generative AI mediates increasing share of research and recommendation workflows
- Google’s quality systems evolve aggressively against tactics that worked five years ago
Consultants who were trained in pre-2020 SEO and haven’t updated their methodologies are demonstrably underperforming those who have. My continuing education — formal and informal — is how I stay at the forefront of this transition.
My Consulting Philosophy
Five principles shape how I work:
Strategy before tactics. I won’t recommend a tactic until I understand why it matters for your specific business. That sounds obvious; in practice, it’s rare. Most SEO engagements begin with templated tactics regardless of whether those tactics serve the actual strategic need.
Outcomes over outputs. Success is measured in ranked keywords weighted by commercial intent, organic-driven pipeline, and share of voice in your category. Not vanity metrics. Not blog posts published per month.
Transparent reasoning. Every recommendation comes with the rationale and the trade-offs. You’ll never see a deliverable you can’t defend to your board.
Honesty about what I won’t do. I don’t buy links, use PBNs, ship AI-generated content without substantive human editing, or guarantee rankings. These positions cost me some engagements; they earn me the ones I want.
Respect for buyer intelligence. My clients are sophisticated decision-makers. My work respects that — no manufactured urgency, no generic platitudes, no lifestyle-aspiration marketing.
Who I Work With
My work has the most impact for businesses where:
- Organic search matters commercially — typically SGD 1M–50M annual revenue businesses, with medical and enterprise clients often operating above that range
- Leadership is engaged — the best engagements involve direct founder, CMO, or senior marketing lead involvement
- Resource capacity exists — content production, engineering capacity, or whatever the specific work requires
- Long-term horizon — strategic SEO compounds over 12–36 months
Approximately 30% of my active engagements involve markets outside APAC — UK, US, EU clients with APAC expansion interests or global programmes. My Singapore and APAC expertise is my foundation; broader international experience is what clients with global ambitions rely on.
Areas of Specialisation
While my consultancy covers the full breadth of strategic SEO, certain areas represent particular depth:
- Enterprise SEO — large-site crawl management, stakeholder coordination, legacy technical debt navigation → Enterprise SEO Services
- International SEO — multi-market hreflang, cross-market content strategy, regional coordination → International SEO Services
- Technical SEO — JavaScript SEO, Core Web Vitals, schema, migration support → Technical SEO Services
- SaaS SEO — programmatic content, comparison content, product-led growth patterns → SaaS SEO Services
- Medical SEO — EEAT-compliant content with Singapore regulatory awareness → Medical SEO Services
- AEO and GEO — positioning for AI Overviews, Perplexity, ChatGPT, and generative engines → AEO Services, GEO Services
How I Engage
Most engagements follow one of three patterns:
Strategic advisory retainers
Monthly strategic input alongside in-house teams. Quarterly business reviews. Ongoing availability for strategic questions.
Embedded consultancy
Working as an extension of client teams on specific initiatives — migrations, international expansion, programmatic SEO builds, AI search transitions. Typical duration: 3–9 months.
Project-based work
Discrete deliverables with defined scope — audits, migration support, strategy development, specialist deep-dives.
See the SEO Consultancy Services page for detailed scope across engagement types.
What a First Conversation Looks Like
Every relationship starts with a free 30-minute consultation. Here’s what it’s not:
- A pitch deck
- A pressure tactic
- A generic diagnostic
- An attempt to convince you SEO is right regardless of your situation
Here’s what it is:
- A substantive conversation about your business and current organic position
- Two or three specific observations about opportunities visible from the outside
- An honest read on whether a paid engagement makes sense for you right now
- If yes, a rough scope conversation
- If no, honest referrals to other operators who might fit better
I’ve turned down work for businesses whose product positioning I couldn’t honestly support, whose expectations weren’t realistic for the channel, or who were better served by other forms of marketing investment. If you’re not the right fit, I’ll tell you — and I’ll try to point you toward someone who is.
